What is an active household?

How do I know if a household counts towards my usage?

Updated over a month ago

In TaxStatus, Households are defined as any two people who file jointly, their dependents, businesses, trusts, and estates.

A household is active if at least one member of the household has records available to you during your contract year.

To find all the households in your system, visit Settings >> System Reports

The Active Households Report details the Households in your system. It has several tabs to help you determine your current usage.

  • HH Counts tab - Provides counts of your total households, the Active Households during the current contract term, and Taxpayers not assigned to a Household.

  • Active HH tab - Details each household that has been active during the current contract term. Each of these counts towards your usage for the current year.

  • Unassigned Taxpayers tab - Lists each taxpayer in your system who has not been assigned to a household. If they have data available, they count as a unique household towards your usage.

  • HH By Taxpayer tab - Each taxpayer is listed on a separate line and identifies the household to which they belong. You can also see if they have signed consent and if data is available.

  • Total HH tab - Lists all households in your TaxStatus portal and shows if they have been activated or not.
