TaxStatus is built with taxpayer security and privacy as our priority. In order to protect taxpayers, the IRS requires that our clients have a process for verifying that taxpayers are who they say they are.
When requesting consent, all customers will be prompted to verify their identity by taking:
a photo of a government-issued ID
a live selfie
Note:
Sometimes, taxpayers who are married or related share an email address. This adds a layer of complication as it increases the likelihood that one person is signing on behalf of another. If you are unsure who is providing the electronic signature, then we can assist with that confirmation process by collecting evidence for you in the form of ID + selfie during the consent flow.
