Nonprofit Tax Return - Form 990

Non-profit entities file informational returns

Updated over 7 months ago

Tax-exempt organizations, nonexempt charitable trusts, and section 527 political organizations file annual informational tax returns using Form 990.

The IRS does not generate Record of Account or Tax Return transcripts for these filers. All information resides on their Account Transcript.

Use the dropdown menu in the Account Transcript section to navigate to Form 990. This will show the date the return was filed, extensions filed, tax per return, account balance, interest, and penalties for that filing period.

The IRS makes unofficial copies of returns filed by tax exempt organizations available to the public. The Account Transcript can be used to verify that a return has been filed and accepted by the IRS.
